Group Policies




  • Group discounts are available for groups of 20 or more. One complimentary chaperone ticket is offered for every 20 student tickets purchased. Additional chaperone tickets may be purchased at the applicable group rate. One chaperone required for every 10 children in the group.

  • In order to avoid sales tax, proof of tax exemption is required (ex: ST-4 or 501(c)3 Letter).

  • A $5 handling fee will be charged for all group bookings.

  • Bring confirmation e-mail with order number to the box office. No tickets will be mailed.


  • Parking for buses is free. Buses will be directed to park in the FSD parking lot.

  • On school group days, buses will unload students in a designated area near the entrance gates of the Field Station. Buses may not unload passengers until greeted by Field Station staff. Buses will then be directed to park in the FSD parking lot.


  • On a school group only day: Lunch is not part of a school trip to the Field Station.

  • On public days: If you are bringing your lunches, please note Field Station: Dinosaurs is not responsible for lost or stolen lunch. If you bring your lunch in your own cooler, it must be left in the designated area in the Canteen.


  • A non-refundable deposit of 50% of your total order is required 2 weeks after the booking is made.  If we do not receive your deposit, your trip will be cancelled.

  • A purchase order (PO) is considered a contract for payment and is recommended in the event that your group cannot meet the deposit deadlines.

  • Your group numbers may be adjusted up to two weeks prior to your trip. The confirmed number at two weeks is the expected minimum payment. Payment in full must be received two weeks prior to your Field Station visit.

  • Payment in full is required to receive the study guides.

  • Groups must be paid in full prior to attending the park.



  • Students must be accompanied by a minimum of one adult for every ten students.

  • Additional chaperones who arrive with the group will be charged the group rate upon entry and must join and remain with the group at all times.

  • For the safety of the children on school group days, chaperones who do not arrive with the group, who are not included in the group numbers and who are not on a list provided by the teacher will not be permitted to enter the park.



  • Field Station: Dinosaurs is open rain or shine. On rainy days, guests without appropriate rain gear will be provided with a free poncho and the activities will be moved to covered areas.

  • If you notify us that your principal or other school administration will not allow your group to visit the park  because of the rain, we will attempt to reschedule your trip. Rescheduling is subject to space availability.

Cancellations and Refunds

  • Payments for field trips canceled before your scheduled trip will be forfeited or may be credited toward a trip scheduled within the season of the original order. Tickets are non-refundable.

  • Please call Group Sales at 973.748.4317 at least 72 hours before your trip to notify us of a change in plans. Date changes are based on availability.

  • Field Station: Dinosaurs does not guarantee admission to school groups without a reservation.

  • On school group days, schools may be turned away if field trip dates are changed without prior approval.


  • Field Station: Dinosaurs has a gift shop that is open on general public days and school group days.



Respect Yourself

  • Rule number one: enjoy your visit! The Field Station is a wonderful place to explore, learn and relax. Our rules help ensure an enjoyable and safe experience for all visitors.

  • Shirts and shoes required at all times.

  • We welcome you to take photographs and video of your experience at the Field Station, and we ask that you limit this to personal use only. If you intend to take photographs for professional or commercial use, please contact us in advance at 973.748.4561.

Respect Others

  • The Field Station is a smoke-free park.

  • Only people in wheelchairs and kids in strollers or wagons get to ride around the Field Station. Riding bikes, scooters, skateboards and the like is prohibited on all pedestrian walkways.

  • Please do not play loud music; use earphones to avoid disturbing other visitors.

  • We reserve the right to escort from the Field Station any individuals or groups who are acting in ways deemed harmful to the park, or that impinge upon the enjoyment of the Field Station by other guests. If you see someone acting in this manner, please notify a Field Station staff member.

Respect the Park

  • Don’t litter. Deposit trash in designated receptacles. Help us save resources and keep the Field Station clean.

  • Eating is allowed in designated areas only. Gum is not allowed.

  • Stay on public paths at all times. Please respect the fences throughout the Field Station, as they are for the safety and protection of our guests.

  • Keep your hands to yourself.  Touching of the display dinosaurs is not permitted. 

  • There are many beautiful things growing throughout the Field Station. Help us keep them alive for all to enjoy by not climbing the trees, picking flowers or disturbing the landscape.

  • Pets are not permitted. Guests who rely on service animals may bring them into the Field Station, provided the animals remain properly leashed and have permit/certificate displayed. Pets must not be left in parked vehicles. Guests are solely responsible for the care and control of their animals.

We reserve the right to inspect packages, bags and containers.

Birthday parties must be booked through our group sales department. You will not be allowed to bring birthday decorations, cake or presents through credential checkpoint if you have not booked your party with us.

During your visit, you may be videotaped or photographed by a Field Station employee or authorized guest. Your admission here serves as permission for use of your image by these parties.
